Soybean futures are lower. The front months are down 6 3/4 to 9 cents in the front months. Meal futures are dropping back by 70 cents/ton to $1.40. Soybean oil futures are steady to 46 points lower in the front months. USDA announced a large export sale of 456,000 MT of new crop soybeans to China. For the week, China has booked 864,000 MT; and the total new crop bean sales announced this week was 1.116 MMT (as 252k were also sold to unknown destinations). Analysts surveyed ahead of USDA’s reports next week estimate bean yield will be 51.2 bpa. That would be up 1.4 bpa from the July estimate if realized. That higher yield estimate pushed the average production estimate to 4.26 bbu, which would be up 124.5 mbu. On average, analysts expect USDA to raise 2021 soybean carryout 101 mbu to 526. Carryin for 2020/21 is estimated to fall back 1.6 mbu to 618.4.
